Questions We Get a Lot
Vinyl pergolas are known for their clean, classic look and exceptional long-term durability — many come with extended warranties because the material resists fading, cracking, and moisture over time. Aluminum pergolas tend to be lighter, easier to assemble, and often include integrated drainage systems that make them a practical choice for wetter climates. The right fit really comes down to your aesthetic preference and how your backyard is used.
Most of our pergolas are designed with straightforward assembly in mind — each arrives with the hardware and instructions needed to put it together at home with basic tools and an extra set of hands. That said, if your installation involves anchoring into a concrete slab or attaching to an existing structure, you may want to consult a local contractor for that specific step. Always check your local building codes before you begin.
Adjustable louvers are angled slats built into the pergola roof that you can open or close to control how much sun, shade, or airflow comes through — some operate manually, others with a simple hand mechanism. They're worth it if you want flexibility across seasons: open them up on a cool spring morning and close them down during the heat of a summer afternoon. It's one of the features that turns a pergola from a decorative structure into a genuinely livable outdoor room.
We offer free shipping on most orders within the Continental U.S. (excludes AK/HI) — pergolas ship directly to your door. If something isn't right, our 30-day return policy has you covered; visit our Return Policy page for the full details on how to start a return.
About Our Pergolas
A pergola is one of the most impactful additions you can make to an outdoor space. It defines an area, adds architectural presence, and creates the kind of sheltered-but-open environment that makes a backyard feel like an extension of your home rather than just a lawn. Whether you're shading a dining area, framing a lounge space, or creating a covered walkway between structures, the right pergola does the heavy lifting for your entire outdoor aesthetic. When choosing a pergola, material matters most. Vinyl holds up beautifully over time with almost no maintenance, making it a smart long-term investment for most climates. Aluminum is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and especially well-suited to coastal or high-moisture environments. Look for features like adjustable louvered roofs, which give you real control over shade and ventilation, and integrated drainage if you're in a region with significant rainfall. Frame thickness and warranty length are honest signals of build quality — they tell you how confident the manufacturer is in what they've made. Think about the footprint you need, how the structure will anchor to your surface, and whether your local municipality requires a permit for permanent outdoor structures.
